How to make vegan-friendly edible playdough

If your kids are anything like mine, they love their toys, but more than that – they love eating everything around them. This recipe below is a perfect match between toys and food: check out these great recipes for a vegan friendly version of edible playdough with and without peanut butter, for those who have allergies.

Ingredients without peanut butter:

  • 1/3 cup Margarine
  • 1/3 cup Light corn syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 lb Powdered sugar (more or less)
  • Food coloring

“Cooking” Instructions:

  1. Mix margarine with corn syrup, salt and vanilla extract.
  2. Add powdered sugar and knead until constancy of play dough.
  3. Divide and add food coloring of choice to each section. Knead until color is well blended.
  4. If you are making only one color, it may be easier to add the coloring before the powdered sugar.
  5. You can use any flavor you choose in place of the vanilla.
  6. Store in refrigerator when not in use.
  7. Perfect for party favors and gifts!

Ingredients with peanut butter:

  • Use equal parts soy milk powder
  • Peanut butter
  • Honey substitute. I used “Just Like Honey and Better Than Milk Soy Powder”.  If you use natural peanut butter, add a little extra soy milk powder, but I would only do that if you use the kind where the oil separates and requires stirring.
  • Food coloring
